%X Dicarboxylic acids (C2-C6) were detected on thin-layer chromatography of silica gel G after developing with V(benzene): V(acetic acid): V(water)=50: 40: 10 for an hour by dipping the plate in a very short time. The chromogenic reagent was 0. 1% bromocresol green alcohol solution adjusted to pH 7. The acid appeared as yellow spots on a blue background.
