%X he fatty acids of 3 strains of various mycobacteriums and 7 strains of mycobacteriums tuberculosis iso-lated from naturally infected patient fluids were studied by capillary gas chromatography.All strains con-tained the characteristic mycobacterial liquid constituent, tuberculostearic acid.Contents of tuberculostearicacid and other fatty acids were different with various mycobacteriums. The fatty acid patterns and especiallythe presence of tuberculostearic acid are characteristic marker of mycobacterium,Gas chromatography mayprovide a convenient alternative to microorganism culture assay.
