%X The present paper deals with a microwave plasma torch atomic emission detector for gas chromatography Argon is used as support gas, carrier gas and make up gas. The effect of oxygen scavenger gas on the detection performance for chlorine, bromine and iodine is discussed. Detection limits, dynamic ranges, relative standard deviations and response characteristics of GC MPT AED for chlorine, bromine and iodine in organic compounds were studied. The results are favorable in comparing with GC ICP AED.
