%X A study was conducted to investigate differential gene expression in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L. cv. ROC16) leaves subjected to 200 mg L-1 ethephon. cDNA-AFLP amplification showed a high level of polymorphism,and gene expression was significantly different compared with the control. Some sequences of different expression fragments were highly homologous to disease-resistant and photosynthesis-associated genes.
