%T A Study on Land Use Change and Tourism DrivingForce in Jiangsu Province<br>江苏省土地利用变化及其旅游驱动力研究

%X In recent years, land use/land cover change (LUCC) has received increasingly moreattentions, becoming one of the fundamental fields of global change research. In particular, drivingforces of LUCC play a fundamental role in LUCC. Among the driving forces of land use/landcover change, tourism development has not received enough attentions. As a coastal province ineastern China, Jiangsu is one of the most vigorous regions with fastest increasing economy. In thiscontext, the land use and tourism are being dramatically changed. Based on data about the land useduring the period 1996 to 2008 in Jiangsu province, the characteristics of land use change in thedistricts were systematically analyzed in terms of land use quantity, structure and degree. Resultsshowed: 1) the area of cultivated land and grassland were decreasing; the transportation land, andresidential and isolated industry land were increasing in recent 10 years; 2) in general, theinformation entropy and equilibrium degree of regional land use structure were increasinggradually, being indicative of a more homogeneous land use structure; 3) the land use degree indexwas being strengthened consistently, and the land use efficiency was being improved obviously;and 4) given the particularity in the study area, the authors selected the index of tourism totalincome and established a tourism driving force-based model for major land use types using thelinear regression method. Results indicated that the tourism economic development had obviousinfluence on the land use change in Jiangsu province. The cultivated land and grassland weresignificantly negatively correlated with the tourism total income. The residential and isolatedindustry land, the transportation land, and the unused land were positively correlated with thetourism total income. It is indicated that the development of tourism economy in Jiangsu provinceis achieved at the cost of decreases in cultivated land and grassland to certain degree. By thestepwise regression analysis between each land type and the tourism total income, it is drawn thatthe residential and isolated industry land plays a marked role in determining the tourism totalincome, i.e., the growth of tourism economy in Jiangsu province is generally accompanied withincrease in the residential and isolated industry land. It is also suggested that factors in regard totourism driving forces should be considered in the course of land use policy-making so as topromote sustainable utilization of land resources.
