%X The 28th Session of the World Heritage Committee was hold in Suzhou,China in June 2004,one of the main concerns of the session was to encourage the growth of under-represented categories of sites and improve geographical coverage.The World Heritage Committee(WHC) evaluated World Heritage sites roundly and deeply,and analyzed the current protection status of the World Heritages from global point of view.The 'Cairns Decision' Modified Draft-Plan was passed on this meeting.This implied that the development of the World Natural Heritage would gain the priority,and the values on ecology,geology and biologic diversity would be emphasized.The paper contrasts the current status of the World Heritage in China with other countries.It is unreasonable that the amount of the World Natural Heritage sites is less the World Cultural Heritage sites in China.There are only four World Natural Heritage sites,but 22 World Cultural Heritage sites.And the protection core areas of these world natural heritage sites are less than(1 000)km~2;their geographical types are single mountains;and three of them were selected only by standard 'N(III)';in addition,their imbalanced distribution can't reflect the complexity of the natural environment and the richness of natural resources in China.The paper puts forward some pertinent advices to develop the World Natural Heritages in China.Firstly,with growth of interfering of human beings with the nature,we should strengthen basic research and promote the scientific connotation of the natural heritages actively.Secondly,we should understand regional culture of the natural heritage sites and explore it. Thirdly,we should give more attention to the sea and ocean heritages and understand the nature itself adequately,each of which is very important and isn't dispensable.Therefore,we should increase World Natural Heritage types and give more priorities to their diversity.And we should broaden geographical coverage of the natural sites appropriately and pay attention to their regional balance.In west China,there are diversified natural resources,which maintain primordial style and features,so we should pay more attention to the development of these natural resources.Finally,it is a constructive strategy to develop the green corridors to help Natural Heritages grow healthy.In conclusion,we should envisage the actuality of natural heritage resources and try our best to construct a world,which is a harmonious and sustainable developmental world for human beings and other living species.
