However, urban development as well as the land use changes results in scarcity of mangroves in the recent decades. Mangrove habitat protection becomes an important issue whenever the estuarine boundaries are going to be developed. Mangrove habitat restoration has not been applied in Taiwan before because the strict living environment of mangroves is hardly to manipulate. Therefore, the restoration result becomes very valuable for wetland restoration study. The study site is located in an abandoned salt field where has been developed into a high technique industrial park in Tainan county. Mangroves grew alone the drainage channels that deconstructed to the road and other outdoor areas. Mangrove habitat restoration includes two major works: to replant the original mangroves plants to the new site and to plant the mangrove seedlings in order to create a biodiversity wetland ecosystem. Two species, Rhizophoara mucronata and Lumnitzera racemosa, are replanted and planted respectively. Salinities of water and soils are examined during the nursery period and are below the critical points. The recovery of mangroves is nearly 99 percent that makes the landscape of the industrial park very unique and also a very good example for conserving a biodiversity wetland ecosystem. %K Mangroves %K Habitat restoration %K Wetland ecosystem %K Biodiversity
