%X erious environmental pollution acs been caused in tEe Eastern Hubei industrial District due to the disposal of vast amount of pollutants from the area itselfannually as it is a high-energy consuming, high consumption keavey industrialdistrict focused on metallurgical,electric power, machinery,chemical and buildingmaterials industries of the province. Tail paper mainly analyses the present pollution status and its characteristics, and points out objectives of future environmental protection as well as countermeasutes for pollution control and environmental improvement.
