%X With strengthening of geological and mineral exploration,a great deal of strip mines and near surface mine hare been be found out.It is more and more difficult to find great metallic ore deposits in shallow subsurface(first deep space:0~500m depth).On the other hand,the shortage of metallic ore resources becomes more and more serious.In order to decrease this crisis of resources,deep metallic ore exploration(second deep space:500~2000m depth) must be carried out as soon as possible.There are good metallogenic conditions in deep subsurface and the development of geophysical techniques makes deep mineral exploration become feasible.In this paper,we make analyses and discussion of the important role of geophysics in deep ore exploration on representative deep ore deposits in abroad and China.The geophysical methods can probe great depths with high precision so can provide effective information on deep ore depositions.In recent years,many practices all over the world indicate that geophysical exploration of deep mineral resources hare obtained and are obtaining important results.
