And it is highly correlated with soil moisture, which is closely related to evaporation and thus to the partition of sensible and latent heat fluxes at the surface. In this paper, the parameterization of runoff generation in AVIM (Atmosphere Vegetation Interaction Model) is improved. In order to validate the ability of AVIM to simulate streamflow, the model is applied to the Xilinhe River Basin in the Inner Mongolia. The simulated streamflow results in the period of 1991 - 1994 indicate that the modification of runoff generation scheme in AVIM is reasonable and effective. %K land surface model %K parameterization %K streamflow
