%X Environmental magnetism is a frontier science among earth science, environmental science and magnetism, which has been applied into many fields because it is capable of providing important information for studying the past regional or global environmental changes and the impact of human activity on environment. Based on summarizing magnetic parameters and vicissitude and evolvement of environmental magnetic minerals, this paper introduce the main advances made in many fields such as soil and atmosphere contamination in monitoring urban environment pollution, and points out some problems in the study of environmental magnetism as well as some new development tendencies.
