%X At present,inverse scattering theory(IST),which comes from quantum mechanics, is widely used in the field of seismic data processing.Inverse scattering imaging can obtain the interior information of object by analyzing the exterior field data detected.This is the new and strongly method for geophysicists which know the deep structure in the earth.The development of IST is systematically generalized and summarized in the paper.At the same time,its future application and developing direction are analyzed.IST provides wide reaching field in suppressing multiple,singular inversion of interface,depth imaging of large perturbation model.
