More than 180 deep space spacecrafts have been launched so far. All large celestial bodies in the solar system including the sun itself were explored. The first boom of deep space exploration occurred in the 60$\sim$70's of the last century, and after a short period of inactiveity in the 1980s, the international space community has seen its second boom from the 1990s, with new ideas and new technologies for the deep space missions. From the point of view of the mission design, they involve many basic problems of dynamics and control. This paper presents recent development and challenge of the fundamental dynamics and control problems with respect to the deep space mission design. %K deep space explore %K dynamics and control %K trajectory design %K formation flying
