%X Wear is the one of cause leading to failure of chemical fiber cutter blades in the process of staple fiber production, production and processing of polyester staple cutting was simulated with a self-made miniature staple cutting equipment. Edge wear of cutter blade were measured using a table projector. Worn surface morphology of the blade edge and side plane were observed using a scanning electron microscope. Property and classification of transfer film on the worn surface were analysed by means of Fourier transform infrared-Raman spectrometer. Content of the free-radical were determined using the paramagnetic resonance method. Result shows that high speed steel cutter blade wear seriously during fiber cutting, its main wear mechanism is abrasion of TiO2 particles in fibers. Cemented carbides cutter blade wear slightly, its main wear mechanism is separation of transferred film.
