The gradient distribution law of structure, hardness and wear resistance of the FGM were investigated by means of scanning electrom microscope (SEM), HV 5 model small load Vickers micro hardness tester, and ML 100 model pin on disk abrasive wear test rig. The results show that SiC particles segregated to the specimen edge in centrifugal field because the density of SiC particles is bigger than that of Al alloy melt. The content of SiC particles decreases gradually until disappears from the edge to the core of the specimen, and experiences gradient change. The hardness of SiC p /Al 8.8%Si alloy FGM decreases gradually from the edge to the core of the specimens and experiences gradient change as well, which agrees well with the distribution law of SiC particles in the specimen. The wear resistance of SiC p /Al 8.8%Si alloy FGM, which depends on the distribution and content of SiC particle, reduces from the edge to the core of the specimens and undertakes gradient change, agreeing with the distribution law of hardness. %K Al %K Si alloy %K SiC particle %K functionally gradient materials %K wear resistance
