%X The latest research and development of improvment in tribological properties of polymer materials by surface modification is introduced. The surface modification mechanism of polymers by ion implantation is discussed. It is showed that the tribological properties of polymer materials can be improved by applying proper surface modification techniques such as ion implantation, vapor deposition, laser and plasma spraying.
