%X The friction and wear behavior of brush plated Ni W(D) layer on Cr12MoV steel in oil lubrication sliding against AISI 1045 steel at various loads was evaluated with an MM 200 friction and wear test rig in a ring on ring configuration. The worn surfaces of the plated layers were observed with a scanning electron microscope, while the size and composition of the wear debris analyzed by means of ferrograph and fluid spectrum. The results show that the brush plated alloy layers are characterized by slight abrasive wear at a relatively low load. The abrasion is enhanced at load above 300 N, which is dependent on the enhanced abrasion action of the wear debris from the localized fracture and spalling of the layers in the presence of higher stress.
