%X The very elderly patient population ( > 80 years) rep-resents a rapidly increasing segment of our demographics, a consequence of the longer life expectancy and aging of the ' baby boom' generation. Coronary artery disease re-mains a major cause of mortality and morbidity among oc-togenarians with an estimated 30% of them having symp-tomatic heart disease and 50% eventually dying from it.
