%T Plate drag reduction with low surface energy coating in water tunnel

%X Conclusion The drag of the flat plate model showed that the low surface energy coating models were capable of reducing drag (18%–30%) in a certain range of speed. For a solid with a low surface energy that has low tensile strength, the effect of surface characteristics on the turbulent structure is measured and a significant difference between Al plate and plate covered coating of low surface energy is found. The tensile slrength of the bond between water and solid material is the predominant parameter.
