%X This paper proposed a numerical algorithm to compute the Lyapunov exponent and capacity dimension for nonlinear chaotic system, and first applies it to analyse the chaotic phenomena of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM).Under several typical operation conditions,the Lyapunov exponents and capacity dimensions for PMSM are computed. The characteristic exponents state clearly and verify the existence of chaotic behaviors in PMSM.
