%X Mobile agents are software programs that can autonomously migrate from host to host to fulfill their goal- s. It is believed to be playing an important role in future e-commerce systems, but the security problems have been an obstacle for mobile agents to be practical. Based on Merkle trees, a route protection of mobile agents is presented in this paper which reduces the computation cost of the agent owner compared with the protocol based on nested encryp- tions.
