%X Entity Bean, which is able to have its state persisted, is an important type of J2EE application component. Entity Bean Container provides the runtime environment for Entity Bean. As a component of Entity Bean Container, the persistence manager takes the responsibility of persisting. This paper studies how to construct a persistence man- ager with relational database, and presents an implementation. The implementation provides a static mapping model to construct the persistence schema, and a dynamic model to response to requests of the client. When more than one user accesses the same Entity Bean instance concurrently, the persistence manger may not work properly. To solve the problem, the container provides a mechanism to synchronize the concurrent accesses, which is also described in this paper. The persistence manager and container have been implemented in OnceAS, which is an application server compliant with T2EE1.3 specification.
