%X There are a large number of multimedia data in the scientific databases. In order to implement effective content-based multimedia storage,management and retrieval,content-based multimedia indexing and retrieval tech- nique will be the emphasis of the work. The authors firstly analyze the characteristic of multimedia in the scientific databases and the requirements of content-based multimedia management, then introduce the principle, characteristic and method of content-based multimedia management technology. The authors finally present multimedia system framework,implement and function in the scientific databases.
