%X Text Retrieval Conference (TREC), which is sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Tech-nology as well as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is the most authoritative international evaluationconference about text retrieval. This paper describes the Ninth Text Retrieval Conference held in 2000 and its fourmain tracks, which are Question Answering, Web Retrieval, Cross Language Information Retrieval and Text Filter-ing, from the aspects of test topics, corpus, evaluation metrics and results.
