%X In this paper, a new image retrieval method based on the edge grid is proposed. Firstly, the color edge is extracted by using canny detection operator. Secondly, the whole color edge is divided to some local grids, and the color histogram and texture histogram for local grid are computed as image features. Finally, the similarity between color images is computed by using a combined feature index based on the color histogram and texture histogram for local grids. Experimental results show that the proposed image retrieval is more accurate and efficient in retrieving the user-lnterested images.
