%X To reserve fringe detail of an image while filtering noise in the smoothing process of image still remains a challenge.In this paper an improved adaptive median filter algorithm based on the standard median filter,the Ranked-order based adaptive median filter(RAMF) is presented.This method introduces three improved aspects: double-examine for dubious noisy pixels;noise pixels within the filter window with high density are filtered according to signal pixels;within the filter window for noise pixels with low density are filtered according to fringe detail of the image.We concluded based on the results of the computer simulation experiments on adaptive median filter that the method proposed in this paper is better than the standard median filter and RAMF.
