A novel adaptive frame rate up conversion algorithm is presented in this paper. The variable-size block motion compensation based on pre-knowledge is incorporated into bilateral motion estimation and the adapted multi-stage motion vector processing and adaptive motion compensated interpolation are adopted so as to resolve the problems of overlapping,hole and block artifacts as well as guarantee higher computation speed. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better image quality than conventional methods both objectively and subjectively,and the computation efficiency is also improved. %K frame rate up conversion %K adaptive %K bilateral motion estimation %K variable-size block
