%X Dataguest claims that videoconferencing grew 350% in the last five years,and industry analysts predict that during the next few years it will have a compound growth rate of 35%. At this rate of growth,information and telecommunications managers will be expected to add and manage quickly and efficiently a large number of lines,people,and equipment. Understanding some of the current and emerging standards is critical in designing the proper structure to implement this new environment and is also essential in managing investment in proliferating equipment. This paper describes features, benifits and the occasional drawback of international standards, H. 320,T. 120, MPEG - 1, MPEG - 2 and JPEG.
