%X COI gene was tested with 76 strains of 33 species of the nectriaceous fungi to investigate its feasibility of serving as a DNA barcode. The results indicated that introns are present in some species, which made it difficult for PCR amplification and sequencing. COI gene is not a good DNA barcode for this group. Analysis of the obtained COI sequences showed that this gene may have the capacity to distinguish species of the nectriaceous fungi.
