%X Four new 4,5-epoxycyclohexenoids,penoxides A-D(1-4),and a known analogue,eupenoxide(5),have been isolated from the crude extract of Penicillium sp.The structures of 1-4 were elucidated primarily by mass spectrum(MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) techniques.The absolute configuration of 1 was deduced by comparison of its NMR data with those of 5,whereas those of 2-4 were deduced by comparison of their CD spectra with that of 1.Compounds 1,2 and 4 showed modest cytotoxicity against HeLa cells.
