It was observed that silver-stained proteins existed in interphase nuclei and metaphase chromosomes mainly in the form of granules. The silver granules was not same in size and unequally distributed. In interphase nuclei there were many silver granules with the diameter of 5~15 nm. Among them the silver granules over 10 nm were mainly distributed in nucleoli, and there were few silver granules over 10 nm in condensed chromatin and nuclear matrix. The silver granules over 10 nm in metaphase nuclei were mainly distributed in chromosomes. Except for the bigger ones, the diameter of most silver granules were 5~10 nm. The result of this paper suggeste that silver-stained chromosome scaffold proteins may come from the condensed chromatin, nuclear matrix and nucleolus of interphase nucleus. %K Physarum polycephalum %K nucleus %K chromosome %K silver-stained proteins %K image analysis
