%X Histogram approach often leads to many false detections and missing detections in shot boundary detection, while edge feature-based approach suffers high computation cost. An improved detection approach that took advantage of the two approaches was proposed, namely, first the shot boundary was detected using histograms, and then based on previous results the second detection was applied with edge feature and various step length. The experimental results show that the new method increases recall and precision without increasing computation cost.
