And volume rendering of 3D irregular data sets is still a focus in the volume rendering field. This paper introduced the means to transform the spatial scattered data to regular volume data by using spatial data interpolation algorithms, and then implemented the volume rendering of spatial scattered data by using ray casting algorithms. Finally, the volume rendering of the oil distributions in one part of oil storage field was achieved by using the principle introduced in this paper. %K volume rendering %K visualization %K spatial data interpolation %K ray casting
