%X By analyzing the contrast sensitivity of HVS and extracting the involved factors that influence the image quality with the help of wavelet transform,a new image quality assessment method was presented.According to the contrast sensitivity of HVS characteristics,namely spatial frequency-characteristic curve,2D multi-level wavelet decomposition was applied to the test image for obtaining wavelet coefficients.From these coefficients,brightness,clarity and the relevant indicator in sub-bands were obtained.Then an arithmetical mean,which came from the geometric mean of these three measures multiplying sub-band weighted coefficients,was used as final comprehensive assessment indicator.The experimental results show that the method can reflect people's subjective feelings in a better way compared with other traditional methods.
