%X The sensor deployment is either deterministic or self-organizing.Analyzing the relationships between both of the deployments,a Virtual Rhomb Grid-based Sensor Deployment(VRGSD) algorithm was proposed.The algorithm integrated both deterministic and self-organizing deployments in a unified framework.It(1) can form a MCDS(minimum connected dominating set);(2) ensures that there are no "holes" in the sensor field;(3) gains an advantage over VFA(Virtual Force Algorithm) for performance and effectiveness;(4) can select different coverage degree of sensing or connectivity for different applications.The flexibility of(4) allows the network to self-configure for a wide range of applications.
