%X A new full fingerprint preprocessing algorithm, which improves traditional fingerprint images segment algorithm by using residual block disposal and smoothing, was introduced, and an orientation-match method that filters orientation field to enhance images was proposed, which removes short line and spur after thinning. The performance of the algorithm has been evaluated by conducting experiments on fingerprint images in FVC2004 database. Experimental results show that the algorithm improves the quality of fingerprint image and makes it convenient for minutiae extraction.
