%X Adopting the case-based reasoning method and combining human-machine conversation, speech recognition (SR) and text to speech (TTS) technologies, a human-machine conversation system was designed and implemented. It allowed English learners to rehearse social conversations in an engaging environment without the participation of another human being. The speech function, dialogue management and data access of this system were described. Experiments prove that the system well meets the user's demand of improving English listening and speaking levels.
