While base station is collecting sense data, the region closer to the base station need transmit more data. If general scheme of deploying sensor nodes uniformly is used, sensor nodes near the base station will use up energy soon and the base station cannot collect data anymore. Therefore, a density formula was proposed to deploy sensor nodes by investigating energy consumption in line wireless sensor networks. Theoretical analysis and simulation result show, in the case that monitoring region is wide, deploying sensor nodes by this scheme, the lifetime is prolonged to two times that of uniform deploying. %K wireless sensor network %K deploying node %K energy balance
