%X There are some features widely accepted by the researchers though it is quite difficult to define texture accurately. Structure analyzing, statistical analyzing, spectrum analyzing and model theory are the four methods mainly used in texture research. Structure method is usually used to analyze the regular texture by identifying the texture elements and their distribution. Statistical method is suitable to the random texture by analyzing the statistical features from a macro point of view on the contrary. Texture digital features are got by using some signal process theories in spectrum field. Texture is considered as some mathematics models in model texture analyzing theory. Texture applications are widely used in military, industry, agriculture and medical areas. This paper discussed texture definition, features, research methods, application research status.
