Based on analyzing the existing cruise control,proposed an intelligent cruise control algorithms that used the information about relative speed and pitch from the preceding and following vehicles, which chose the proper control action for smooth vehicle following and for maintain a desired vehicle spacing specified by the driver. The simulation results show that the vehicle stability and fleet stability in both directions are guaranteed by the proposed intelligent cruise control algorithms. %K automated highway %K intelligent cruise control %K vehicle string %K fleet stability
