%X This paper discussed a novel improved UWB modulation scheme called APIM, and presented its symbol structure and the performance parameters such as bandwidth requirement, error performance in an AWGN channel and maximum reliable transmission distance. Theory analysis and simulation results show that the proposed APIM can get a better rate of bandwidth utilization than PPM, PIM and OOK, and it also gets improvement comparied to OOK in the aspect of packet error rate under the condition of reliable communication distance.
