%X The technologies of automatic mesh generation for 3D surface finite element meshes are discussed. Triangulation of surface is implemented by adopting mapping approach. The geometry and topology information of every surface is mapped and extracted to 2D parametric space when model is imported and reconstructed according to the data from STEP files. The meshes are generated on the parametric plane by the advancing front approach. Then the meshes are mapped to the 3D surface.
