%X This paper presented the definition,geometric meaning,and recent research development of packet classification problem.According to their implementation features,it divided some classical packet classification algorithms into different types and described them one by one detailedly.Through the evaluation of several representative algorithms in a virtual environment,this paper summarized the advantages,shortcomings as well as suitable application environments of different kinds of packet classification algorithms and prospected the future research issues on packet classification problem.
