The result showed that a sudden depth excursion occurred in the load--depth curves which corresponds to initiation of an indentation crack. The critical stress for the crack initiation. which is one order of magnitude less than that of the other bulk brittle materials. The average values of the hardness and modulus are H=6.25 GPa and E=86.7 GPa, respectively. %K SnO_2 nanobelt %K nanoindentation %K hardness %K fracture toughness %K breaking stress
