%X A novel method of producing gradient material by continuous casting usingdouble--stream--pouring technique was proposed. The preparation of Al--Si gradient alloy wascarried cot by self--made double -- st ream -- pouring semi--continuous castingfacilities results show that in the steady state, the flow and the solidification of the outside stream andinside stream can be controlled by changing the parameters, such as casting temperature andvolume ratio of the two streams. Different gradient profile of composition in as--cast structurecan be obtained. The good corresponding relationships among the silicon concentration, theInicrostructure and the mechanical properity of the alloy are obtained.
