Due to the extremely acidic environment and scarcity of organic nutrition in the biotrickling filters, only a low microbial diversity was observed. It was also found that Bispora sp. IEL002 could facilitate Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans IEL001 in oxidizing sulfur, but Bispora sp.
