%X A compression test used to measure the mechanic strength of anaerobic granules was improved by sieving the granules firstly, and then the strength was measured respectively and obtained afterwards. The method has strong maneuverability and good reproducibility. Measurement results of the strength of anaerobic granules from different sources showed that there are positive correlations among the strength and scale of reactor, applied hydraulic loading rate in the reactor, besides, the parameters also have high correlations with content of major metallic element in the granules (such as Ca,Fe and Mg).
