%X Degradation conditions of phenol based on the novel two-phase partitioning bioreactor (TPPB) and the phenol-degrading bacteria which overcomes the difficulties found in the removal of phenol in high salinity wastewater were studied. Optimal organic solvent of the reaction system was kerosene. And the phenol concentration, salinity and agitation speed of the process were examined. The experimental results reveal that the reaction system could degrade phenol range from 1 000 mg/L to 2 500 mg/L. Under the optimal operation conditions of the salt concentration of 100 g/L and agitation speed of 50 r/min, the degradation time was shortened to 52 h with total phenol removal rate of 20.58 mg/(L·h).
