%X Recently, microfiltration/ultra-filtration combined with reverse osmosis (MF/UF-RO) are widely used in wastewater reclamation. Because of high investment and operation costs of MF/UF-RO process, optimal operation and management and input-output mechanism should be established to improve its economic benefits. The investment and operation cost of a MF-RO process in a wastewater reclamation plant in Beijing was evaluated in this paper. The total production cost consists of equipment depreciation cost and operation cost. The operation cost constitutes the greatest part of the total production cost, while membrane replacement cost, electricity cost and chemical cost are the major parts of the operation cost. The production amount of reclaimed water is about 7 000 m3/d these days. The low operating load rate (33.33%) leads to high production cost. The equipment depreciation cost and operation cost are about 0.83 and 4.46 yuan per ton permeate, respectively. The total production cost is about 5.29 yuan per ton permeate. Increasing the treatment amount of and the load rate is the key to decrease the total production cost.
