%X Magnesium hydroxide/activated carbon composite was prepared by chemical precipitation & compounding in situ. The surface area and poresize distribution of the composite were characterized. The removal of weak acid red B by the composite was investigated. Be superior to Freundlich model, Langmuir model fit to the adsorption of the dye at 293~313 K. Orthogonal experiments showed that the initial concentration of solution was the most important factor. The optimum adsorption effect was achieved under the following conditions: adsorption of solution with initial concentration of 250 mg/L at 313 K for 90 min by 0.1 g Mg(OH) 2/AC.
